Announcing NJ Seeds: A new way forward!

June 11 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

“In order to build community power, we need to truly honor, respect, and value the wisdom and expertise that’s within community.” – Ivory Clarke, National Academy of Medicine

The Participatory Budgeting Project is excited to announce a new learning cohort: New Jersey Seeds in partnership with and support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

New Jersey Seeds aims to grow people power across NJ and replace corruption with community-led decision-making. Participatory budgeting (PB) is a democratic process used across the world that allows community members to directly decide how public funds are spent by steering the process, proposing ideas, and voting on the final proposals. It fosters collaboration, builds community power, and leads to more effective and impactful budget decisions.

This cohort is focused on New Jersey and how this innovative civic process can transform local decision-making and help address everyday issues New Jerseyans are facing such as the housing crisis, climate change, growing distrust with government, and equity and inclusion.

This 5-week learning cohort will focus on exploring participatory budgeting, training participants in how it works, and giving them the tools and resources to advocate for it in their communities.

Join us on June 11th, 2024 at 4pm to learn more about PB, the New Jersey Seeds program, and how you can be a part of this growing wave of participatory democracy. The webinar will be recorded for later watching.
