Creating Transformative Systems – Virtual Conference

May 8 @ 9:30 am - May 9 @ 5:00 pm

Join the New Jersey Coalition Against Sexual Assault (NJCASA) on May 8–9, 2024, for our free, virtual conference, Creating Transformative Systems!

May 8th | 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST

May 9th | 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. EST

Our conference aims to unite stakeholders from diverse sectors to help prevent sexual violence and build collaborative, resilient systems of support for survivors, with a special focus on serving those with historically marginalized identities. By harnessing collective expertise across fields, Creating Transformative Systems will focus on ways that we can be more responsive to the challenges our communities face, recognizing that the systems we regularly interact with (schools, workplaces, hospitals, etc.) are often not responsive to our needs and can cause harm. Only by working together can we cultivate safer, more equitable sectors that will have a positive impact on the different facets of our lived experiences.

Our event features a combination of panels and workshops led by experts in the anti-sexual violence movement and allied sectors and a guided conversation with New York Times bestselling author and trauma specialist Resmaa Menakem. This year’s event also features a special recognition ceremony celebrating individuals committed to creating transformative systems!

In partnership with the Center on Research for Ending Violence at the Rutgers University School of Social Work, we are excited to offer 10 continuing education units (CEUs) to conference attendees at a highly discounted rate ($40). Please note: to be eligible for the discounted 10 CEUs, you must attend the full conference. Partial CEUs can not be granted. For questions regarding CEUs, please reach out to our Co-Director, Robert Baran: rbaran@njcasa.org.

NJCASA values inclusivity and is committed to creating welcoming and accessible environments for all attendees. As such, Creating Transformative Systems will offer American Sign Language interpretation (ASL), Spanish-language translation, and live English closed captioning. For questions regarding accommodations, please reach out to our Accessibility Specialist, Miraj Vilches: mvilches@njcasa.org.

We’re pleased to offer this content free of charge to all event attendees. We ask that, in place of a ticket purchase price, you please consider making a donation to NJCASA. Your contribution will go directly toward our programs and initiatives that support survivors and service providers and, ultimately, work toward building safer, more equitable communities across New Jersey.

For questions about registration or about the conference in general, please reach out to our Communications and Research Specialist, Allie Fountaine: afountaine@njcasa.org.

This conference has been generously funded by The Department of Children and Families/Division on Women. NJCASA is grateful for DCF/DOW for their continued support of our work.
