Get Ready for CED Funding Opportunities

January 19 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free
The federal Community Economic Development (CED) program funds community development nonprofit organizations to undertake job creation projects in low and moderate-income communities.This webinar, designed for CDCs in areas that have historically undersubscribed to the CED program, will help participants explore:

  • An overview 101 for those newer to the CED program, including past project examples and questions to self-assess if your organization has a potentially CED-eligible project.
  • A summary of how CED projects in the “Energy Communities” have become a priority for the CED program.
  • New in 2023, the CED program plans to offer planning grants to CDCs with potentially CED-eligible projects that are not quite ready for a full CED grant application.

Participants will also receive a follow-up survey to assess their readiness for the upcoming FY23 funding opportunities upon completion of the webinar. Select CDCs may be offered technical assistance from NACEDA to help with application planning.

BACKGROUND
CED grants of $100,000-$800,000 will be awarded to approximately twenty CDCs in 2023, including approximately four grants targeted at expanding business and employment opportunities for Energy Communities. The Energy Communities focus targets resources specifically to areas impacted by job losses in the fossil fuel industries. And, new in 2023, the CED program will offer approximately ten Planning grants of $150,000 each to CDCs that need help preparing a CED-eligible project for a full application.

We encourage you to still register for this January 19 webinar even if your CDC is not ready to apply this year. This webinar is designed with CDCs in mind and will provide an overview 101, including past project examples and questions to self-assess if your organization has a potentially CED-eligible project. The webinar will share more about the focus on the Energy Communities and the new Planning grants, particularly the technical aspects of grant eligibility, application, and compliance. Similar grant funds will be available in the following year.

The federal Community Economic Development (CED) Program funds are specifically designated for community development corporations (CDCs) to undertake job creation projects in low- and moderate-income communities.

This webinar is designed for CDCs in geographic areas that are under represented in CED program funding. Participants will explore:

– an overview of the CED program, including examples of successful past projects and questions to self-assess whether your organization has a potentially-eligible project;
– a summary of how projects in the “Energy Communities” have become a priority for the CED program;
– a preview of new planning grants for CDCs with potentially-eligible projects that are not quite ready for a full CED grant application.

Participants will also receive a follow-up survey to assess their readiness for the upcoming FY23 funding opportunities upon completion of the webinar. Select CDCs may be offered technical assistance from NACEDA to help with application planning.
