NJ Birth Equity Funders Alliance Learning Series: Addressing the social determinants of health
October 5 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
FreeThe social determinants of health are the conditions that shape a person’s life from birth to old age. These factors play a crucial role in birth equity and impact access to quality maternal and infant care. By addressing these factors, we can work to reduce disparities in maternal and infant health and promote equity. But doing so requires collaboration across sectors.
On Thursday, October 5th, we’ll explore how perinatal health workers, public health advocates, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders can play a role in addressing the social determinants of health.
Hear from our subject matter experts who will will analyze the impact of intimate partner violence, housing, legal issues, and transportation on maternal health:
- Linda Locke, CNM, MPH, LSW, FACNM, Founder and Executive Director of the New Jersey Health Cares About Domestic and Sexual Violence Collaborative
- Erika Kerber, Esq., President and Executive Director at the Community Health Law Project
- Jaye Wilson, Founding President/CEO of Melinated Moms
- Alex Staropoli, Director of Advocacy and Communications at Fair Share Housing Center
