Race & Racism in the Performing Arts – Moving Toward Transformation

August 3 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$95

The performing arts have a long and disturbing history of overt and covert racism that extends well beyond the stage and into every fiber of its industries. It has persisted for over 400 years and continues today. In this workshop participants will take a deep look at the history and manifestations of racism in and related to the performing arts, do research and analysis to develop a deeper understanding of its impact, and consider how this trajectory might be transformed. This workshop will be of interest to those in the performing arts, those interested in pursuing this field, funders, patrons of the arts, history buffs, and anyone wanting to know more about structural racism in the U.S.
