The Healing Encounter: A Restorative Justice Conference

Join practitioners, social workers, communities and leaders in discussing healing and restorative justice practices within communities.

This goals of this conference include:

1) Exploring “conflict” as a community experience,

2) Discussing best practices for restorative healing, and consider their applicability within the community and justice-related spheres,

3) Engaging in reflective and transformative discourse grounded in indigenous practices; and

4) Inspiring individuals to commit to the work of restoration, and use these practices in their individual and collective spaces.

5.) Participate in Healing Circle practices.

Some of our guest speakers include Dr. Darcella Sessoms, Department of Corrections, Chief of Programming and Reintegration Services, New Jersey Department of Corrections; Evan Coallier; Chief of Staff for Assemblyman Reginald Atkins; Director Lakeesha Eure of the City of Newark Office of Violence Prevention and Trauma Recovery; Alia Berry of the Paterson Healing Collective and Dr. DuWayne Battle, PhD of Rutgers University.
