Games of Chance Ballot Question Passes

Election results for NJ nonprofit raffle proceeds ballot question. Yes - 64.18% No - 35.82%

Updated December 2, 2021

On November 2, 2021, New Jersey voters overwhelmingly passed Public Question #2 by a 64%-36% margin. This means that as of January 1, 2022, all New Jersey charities that run games of chance may use the proceeds from these games for general organizational purposes, including for facilities repair, technology, staffing, among others. With more and more people turning to charities for help since the pandemic, these needs have become especially urgent for all non-profits. Previously, only veterans’ organizations and senior groups enjoyed this flexibility.

Thanks to everyone who advocated or voted for getting these restrictions lifted. We also thank Senator Loretta Weinberg, Senator Tom Kean, Assemblywoman Yvonne Lopez, Assemblywoman Carol Murphy, and Assemblyman Gordon Johnson for sponsoring the resolution in the Legislature.
