Reports to: Executive Director
Status: Part-time, hourly (15-20 hours/week)

Hybrid position, flexible work schedule. Day-to-day work can take place remotely or at the office, ability to drive to the office once/week preferred.

Position Description: North Jersey RC&D seeks an organized, analytical, and detail-oriented Finance Administrator to join its dedicated team. This position is responsible for the administration of all the financial duties for the organization. This includes payroll and human resources administration, accounts receivable/accounts payable, monthly account reconciliation, quarterly and annual financial and grant reporting, financial statements for the annual audit, and compliance with external grant-reporting requirements.

The Finance Administrator provides confidential financial and human resource support. This position requires a consistent, collaborative, and solutions-oriented person who will work closely with the Executive Director and Treasurer to ensure organizational health and stability.

Responsibilities to Include:

Maintain the financial records and transactions of the organization with accuracy;
Reconcile bank and credit card statements to ensure accuracy;
Process accounts payable and account receivable, including invoicing;
Prepare quarterly, semi-annual, annual, and final reporting for state and federal grants, including cost reconciliations;
Assist with budgeting and forecasting;
Prepare bank deposits, write checks (electronic and physical);
Prepare and file quarterly and annual state tax returns;
Assist the CPA in the preparation of the Form 990, with input from the Executive Director and Finance Committee;
Track billable time and timesheet logs to individual grant accounts and financial statements for grant-based quarterly reporting;
Prepare reconciliation reports for financial reports and audit as required;
Provide cash flow report and profit and loss report for the Executive Director to provide the Council’s Finance Committee;
Calculate retirement payments;
Process general payroll deductions, state reporting, and taxes;
Prepare semimonthly payroll transactions;
Research cost-effective options for financial services including, but not limited to: insurance, accounting services, financial and banking services, and investment services;
Inform the Executive Director of upcoming renewals (insurance policies, etc.);
Assist with the implementation of the personnel policies of the organization.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

Strong computer skills, including Excel;
Experience with QuickBooks Online accounting software and systems;
Knowledge of nonprofit accounting and grant budget experience;
Knowledge of financial statement preparation and accounting standards;
Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
Detail-orientated with a commitment to accuracy and timeliness;
BA/BS degree in business, nonprofit financial management or accounting preferred;
Proven experience (3-5 years) in financial management, grants management, accounting and budgeting, preferably in a non-profit organization;
Experience and ability to work in a confidential environment.

Compensation and Benefits:       

Pay range: $35-$40 per hour, depending on experience.
Pro-rated paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, in addition to all legally required benefits such as Medicare, Unemployment, Workers’ Compensation Insurance, and Social Security.
Flexible and hybrid scheduling.

Compensation: Part-time, $35-$40 per hour, depending on experience.
