The Chubby’s Project is a 501 C 3 nonprofit organization located in Hopewell Borough, New Jersey.  The Project began during the pandemic with a handful of volunteers delivering groceries and hot meals while supporting isolated, vulnerable neighbors with a knock and a smile.  By 2023, volunteers were delivering over 7200 meals annually to over 150 recipients.  In addition to the four day/week meal delivery, The Project operates a 24/7 access community food pantry, builds community awareness about food insecurity in local schools, teaches English as a Second Language (ESL) education two nights a week to local families, and provides support by way of transportation to doctors, emergency assistance and referral to appropriate social service agencies. Daily operations are managed by a part-time Director, supported by over 100 volunteers and overseen by a board of five community members.  The Project has a budget of approximately $200,000.


Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks such as drafting correspondence, answering/responding to phone calls, and handling general inquiries.

Project Assistance: Help coordinate and support various tasks aimed at addressing food insecurity. This will involve tracking and storing food donations and working directly with volunteers to pack food for delivery to those in need.

Event Planning: Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising events, community outreach activities, and volunteer initiatives.

Data Entry and Management: Help maintain accurate records and databases related to donors, volunteers, and program participants. This could involve entering data into spreadsheets or the Project database and generating reports as needed.

Volunteer Coordination: Assist with recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers to support various aspects of the organization’s work, such as food distribution or community outreach efforts.

Financial Support: Assist with basic financial tasks such as processing invoices, tracking expenses, and assisting with budgeting/financial reporting.

General Support: Provide general assistance to the executive director and other staff members as needed, such as running errands, preparing materials for meetings, and helping to maintain a clean and organized office space.

The Project Assistant plays a crucial role in helping The Chubby’s Project achieve its mission of building community through intentional neighboring in the Hopewell community.  This work is accomplished by providing essential administrative and operational support. Work hours may vary week to week.

Compensation: 20 hours/week, $15,000 - $20,000 annually
